An article of the RE-ACT consortium for the Regional Science Policy & Practice (RSPP) has been accepted and published. With the title “DRIVERS AND CHALLENGES OF RIS3-RELATED UNIVERSITY ENGAGEMENT – INSIGHTS FROM FIVE EUROPEAN REGIONS“, the article aims to shed light on the main challenges and drivers experienced by the 5 universities whilst taking part in the RE-ACT project: Porto Business School  (PBS, Portugal), University of Macerata (UNIMC, Italy), Technical University of Kosice (TUKE, Slovakia), Corvinus University Budapest (CUB, Hungary) and Babeș-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca (BBU, Romania).

You can access the article here.

The main research questions addressed in the article are: To what extent and how did the HEIs involved in the RE-ACT project perceive themselves as acting as civic universities? What could  HEIs learn from interacting with  QH  stakeholders about the role they should play in their regions and in RIS3-related activities? The article includes the following main content: Literature Review on HEIs’ role in regional development and RIS3 as well as on the civic university framework; Background section introducing the  HEIs involved and their regional contexts; presentation of the adopted methodology; research results and discussion focused on the civic university dimensions related to the HEIs’ experience of the RE-ACT  project; further areas of research and limitations.
